Exploring Shoes on the Danube bank.

The Shoes on the Danube bank is a poignant memorial to the thousands of Jewish people killed by the Arrow Cross Party during World War II. The monument is located on the Pest side of the Danube River, near the Parliament Building.
The memorial consists of 60 pairs of iron shoes scattered along the river’s edge. The shoes represent the thousands of Jews who were killed. The victims were ordered to remove their shoes before being shot, and their bodies were left to fall into the river. The Shoes on the Danube Bank is a somber yet moving experience not to be missed.
To capture the essence of this memorial, I recommend shooting it in black and white to give it a timeless and somber feel.

Visiting St Stephen’s Basilica

St. Stephen’s Basilica is a neoclassical church located in the heart of Budapest. It is one of the most important religious buildings in Hungary. The basilica is named after Hungary’s first king, St. Stephen, whose right hand is kept in the basilica’s reliquary. The basilica is interior is ornate and features several works of art, including a painting by Rafael Mengs and a sculpture by Giovanni Strazza.

The basilica also has a panoramic view of the city from its dome. Its grandeur and beauty make it a popular spot for photography. Try taking a photo of it from the nearby square, to get the most out of it. Alternatively, you can climb to the top of the basilica’s dome for a breathtaking view of Budapest.

Exploring Citadella

Citadella is a fortress on top of Gellert Hill, offering breathtaking city views. The Habsburgs built the fortress after the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 to quell any future uprisings. Today, the Citadella serves as a popular tourist destination.

The castle is a beautiful site to take in the sights because of its breathtaking overview of the city. Take photos from Fisherman’s Bastion, a terrace atop Castle Hill with fantastic city vistas. Alternatively, you can walk up to the castle’s terraces for a stunning view of the city.

Exploring Matthias Church

Matthias Church is a Gothic church located in the heart of Buda Castle. The church was initially built in the 13th century. The church is known for its distinctive tiled roof, intricate stained glass windows, and ornate interior. Take a guided tour of the church to learn about its rich history and artistic treasures.

I loved taking pictures there because of the vibrant roof tiles and ornate building design. You may get a different perspective of the church by zooming in on the roof tiles with a telephoto lens.

Paying a Visit to Fisherman’s Bastion.

Fisherman’s Bastion is a terrace located on Castle Hill. It offers stunning views of the city. The terrace is named after the fisherman’s guild responsible for defending this city section during medieval times.

Enjoy some of the best street food and the sunset while gazing at the Parliament Building from this prime location. Try taking snaps at either the golden hour or blue hour, when the sky takes on a variety of hues.

Taking a Dip in the Széchenyi Thermal Bath

Budapest is known for its thermal baths; taking a dip in one of them is an experience you should take advantage of. Széchenyi Thermal Bath is one of Budapest’s largest and most famous thermal baths. The bath is not only great for relaxation but is also known to have healing properties from the thermal springs.

Széchenyi Thermal Spa is the ideal spot to indulge in self-care and soak away the day’s fatigue, aches, and pains. Taking pictures of the bathhouses attractive design or the multicolored tiles reflected in the water with an underwater camera would make for some incredible memories. Conversely, taking pictures of the pool outdoor at sunset would be a great idea.

Strolling along Heroes Square

Heroes Square is a historic square in Budapest featuring the Millennial Monument, which commemorates the 1000-year history of Hungary. The square is located at the end of Andrássy Avenue in Budapest. The monument is flanked by two colonnades, each with seven statues representing various aspects of Hungarian history and culture.
At the center of the square, you can see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which pays tribute to Hungarian soldiers who died in World War I. I would recommend Heroes’ Square as a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Hungarian history and culture. The best pictures you can take from here are either at dawn or sunset when the light was warm and diffuse.

The Széchenyi Chain Bridge spans the Danube between Buda and Pest. The bridge is a masterpiece of 19th-century engineering and features two large stone lions guarding the entrance on the Buda side. Photographing this monument at night, when it is illuminated in golden tones, or during the blue hour when the city’s lights cast a mystical glow is an excellent opportunity to capture it in a manner that most people don’t.

Paprika Restaurant is a budget-friendly option that serves authentic Hungarian cuisine. They offer a range of dishes, including goulash, stuffed cabbage, and chimney cake. It is a great place to try traditional Hungarian food without breaking the bank.
